The purpose of the present study is to identify what kind of errors are made by Korean learners in using “le” based on the analysis of HSK dynamic composition corpus. The result of analysis showed that omission was more frequent than overuse in case of “le₁” while overuse was more frequent than omission in case of “le₂”. Also, this phenomenon was found to stem from negative transfer of mother language. It can be asserted that the negative transfer of mother language is an intrinsic cause because it is a phenomenon that definitely exists in learning foreign language and is associated with the characteristics of language itself. Most of journal articles on error analysis of “le” were focused on negative transfer of mother language in identifying the cause of learner’s making error in using “le”. However, in actual education field, the problems of textbook and teacher can be a critical cause of the errors. Regarding errors related to “le”, there are misdefinition of “le”, incorrect interpretation of examples, problems in terms of contents, handling “le₁” and “le₂” in a lump, and inappropriate use of technical terms in Chinese textbooks used in Korea. Another reason of this problem is that the person who writes textbook does not have professional knowledge of Chinese grammar. In addition, as a lot of Chinese teachers have not learned this professional knowledge of Chinese grammar, they can teach what is not correct. These problems of textbook and teacher can be asserted as an external factor which can be improved through efforts.
