The purpose of this study is to find out the status of Korean language education for marriage immigrants in rural areas. To achieve this, I have targeted to survey and interview the Korean language teachers and marriage immigrants living in Boeungun·Yeongdonggun·Okcheongun, Chungcheongbukdo. Multicultural Family Support Center is the only Korean language educational institution in Boeungun·Yeongdonggun·Okcheongun county. Nine teachers and 121 marriage immigrants of this Center participated in the research. Through the results of this research, I found out the needs of education. And I have proposed five improvements to the problems of Korean language education for marriage immigrants in the rural areas.
First, the Korean language education period should be increased. The winter Korean language education program is required. Second, The opportunity to learn the Korean language should be increased. The cooperation of the local authorities is necessary. Third, The rural life contents should be more on textbook. Fourth, The Korean language teachers should receive a highly improved treatment. fifth, the Korean language education policy should be developed. Education policy should be specified by law. And Incentives should be given to those who completed the course of the Korean language education.
