This paper examines the effect of using English movies in learning attitude and achievements in a graduation certification replacement course. The subjects were 10 seniors who haven’t obtained the minimum TOEIC requirement scores to be eligible to graduate and therefore, mandatorily took the course in summer of 2015. The course used 5 English movies and the subjects were to dictate what they could hear from the movies, make presentation after each movie, and to complete the questionnaire to learn their motivation and attitude toward the course. Pre- and post-mock TOEIC tests were administered to compare the results. The subjects’ dictation was analyzed to see the improvement in their listening. The study also compared the results with those of Lee’s(2014) study on the same course not using movies. The results of the study showed improvement of 22 points whereas only 11 points were improved among the ones without movie watching. The attitudes of the subjects were noticeably better among the movie-watching group and the class was manageable unlike the previous courses. It can be concluded that using movies in the class for the students’ motivation and learning attitude especially the ones whose TOEIC scores are very low and without motivation to study English. However, selection of the movies has to consider students’ interest, theme and length of the movie.
