The purposes of this study were to analyze the motivations for adolescent trainees to participate in Taekwondo demonstration activities, which represent the total manifestation of Taekwondo technique systems, and examine any practical changes to their internal psychology after participating in Taekwondo demonstration activities. For those purposes, the investigator selected five Taekwondo studios with a demonstration team through purposeful sampling and conducted an in-depth interview with ten demonstration team members participating in demonstration activities. The analysis results of adolescents" participation in Taekwondo demonstrations and changes to their internal psychology according to those methods and procedures led to the following conclusions:
First, various motivations worked for adolescent trainees to participate in Taekwondo demonstration activities including recommendation by the instructors at the Taekwondo studio and parents, yearning for the social and cultural attraction factors of Taekwondo demonstration teams, sharing of sense of belonging among the peers, and admittance to the Department of Taekwondo in college. Secondly, adolescent trainees went through such internal psychological changes as promoting their own understanding of themselves, doing positive thinking, understanding others and increasing the community spirit by participating in the demonstration activities.
Those findings indicate that participation in Taekwondo demonstration activities can bring changes to the internal psychology of adolescent trainees, who are going through an unstable psychological state, including emotional stability.
