This study aims to infer a prospect of true Christianity by reinterpreting Nietzsche’s critique of religion from a perspective of reflection on faith. Although people may simply identify Nietzsche’s philosophy as to declare ‘the death of god,’ what becomes real question is not the conclusive averment, “God is dead.” Because, despite the fact that any one can say ‘God is dead,’ it is never a legitimate argument of philosophy unless we have comprehensive and at the same time logical explanations on certain questions-where god has born, how it became God, how God started ruling humanity, why God had to die, and most importantly what would be capable of being accomplished as a new religion after the death of God.
Nietzsche’s Anti-Christianity philosophy, accordingly, could well be interpreted as a circuitously developed philosophy for ‘true’ Christianity. So-called Christianity, which Nietzsche heavily criticized in Jenseits von Gut und Böse, Zur Genealogie der Moral, and Der Antichrist, was nothing but an institutionalized and contorted Christianity by Apostles and anything but a genuine spirit of Christianity. In this regard, we may assert that Nietzsche’s philosophy was a kind of ‘faith-reflectional attempt’ for Re-constructing genuine spirit of Christianity by De-constructing distorted Christianity in reality. There we find a Genealogical analysis of Morality as his method to conduct this project.
This thesis consequently defines Christianity in reality as an ‘idol’ and dialectically traces complete course of ‘it’ from birth to death, followed by prospect of true Christianity for liberating life after deconstruction of the idol. Although Nietzsche did not directly mention this by himself, this alternative prospect could well be extrapolated on the basis of his own critiques. As a result, we may attempt to reconstruct true Christianity for the liberation of human life, out of voidness that would occur after deconstruction of falsely idolized religion.
