This Study examined how online education affects the spatial educational environment of offline education in urban spatial structures. The business of online education was investigated and panel analysis was conducted in Seoul.
The analysis showed that the density of students decreased the density of offline education companies in the region and that the number of students in middle and high schools increased the density. On the other hand, online education companies showed opposite results.
According to the analysis, the area was crowded with offline academies where students with high-income parents gathered and due to the differentiation of education performance, the education became the criterion for choosing housing. It was affecting real estate prices and making the residential differentiation stronger. This has not prevented the integration of urban spatial structures that have been driven into certain areas even in the last decade of online education. On the contrary, regional differentiation resulted in the consolidation of residential areas.
