A Review on the Previous Research on the Shijo GenreShijo, 3-line Korean ode is a combination of text and music. As there have been active studies on its text in the field of Korean literature, a great number of theses and books are released.However, theses on music-related Shijo are still quite a few in the circle of Korean traditional music.But, I expect in the future a comprehensive and brisk study in parallel with music and literature of Shijo, because; Shijo-related theses are published at the educational colleges. Some students who specialized in Korean traditional music move up to Ph. D. Program of Korean Literature and associated fields, concentrating on poems and songs of Shijo. There is already a growing trend among scholars to have a perspective to view Shijo in line with music in the circle of Korean literature. Here in this paper, I am going to provide data based on in-depth investigations on Shijo, by going through Shijo-related theses written mainly on the viewpoint of music, and looking out the outcomes and publications till present.
