Chosunjok community in Manchuria is constantly reconstructed by everyday experience of people in the community. Under this presupposition, this study pursuits people's memories of a Chosunjok community in Manchuria, because the memories are not representations of fixed history; they has been selected, reinterpreted, and distorted through people's everyday lives in social environment. In this article, we have studied, through memories of the residents, how Chosunjok community(Ohsang hyun, Minrak Chosunjok village) in northern Manchuria in 1930-40s has been built, persisted and changed. The Chosunjok community was a 'community of dream' in their memories. Manchuria was the 'space of hope' to accumulate capital for bourgeoisie of Chosun. As for poor peasantry of Chosun, it was also the 'space of hope' to own land and to overcome poverty. Each of these mutual dreams, along with social-environmental condition at that time, constructed Chosunjok(korean) community of Manchuria in 1930-40s as a social space. Chosunjok(korean) community at Ohsang Hyun was a collective farm artificially established by Manmong Inc., a company founded by Gong. Management of the farm was very systematic, so production, consumption, and education could be all executed within the farm. Social solidarity of this Chosunjok(korean) community was fastened by intimacy based on the shared sense of hometown and by school education which helped maintain national identity as Chosunjok(Koreans). Chosunjok(korean) community could sustain and develop through the social solidarity.
