The goal of this study is to review trends in research related to the late Joseon period published between 2017 and 2018. It is necessary to understand the overall trend of the study and establish the future direction of the study through them.
What draws attention from the past two years of research is that there are active attempts to grasp the late Joseon period from a continuous perspective. In that sense, studies reviewed in the 18th and 19th centuries were conducted, and attempts were made to find common ground between Goryeo and Joseon, Joseon and modern times.
There is something to be desired. First of all, there is a lack of research in economic history. The number of research papers itself is smaller than other fields, and research is focused on certain areas. I urge you to pay attention to the field of economic history. It is also regrettable that there is no macrodialogue. Along with micro and concrete research, attention should also be paid to establishing an understanding framework that can explain the character of the late Joseon Dynasty.
Many important studies have been omitted because the short article covered a lot of content. I cannot help feeling sorry for the researchers who carried out the meaningful study. Therefore, in the future, it would be better to introduce a more granular approach to organizing relevant studies by sector.
