Metallothionein(MT) is a small protein composed of 61 amino acids including 20 cysteine residues. MT is over-expressed in various organs exposed to many stress conditions such as heavy metals, hunger, fever or inflammation. MT has been reported that it could protect the cell from oxidative stress by reactive oxygen species(ROS) due to their antioxidant effect. In the previous study, we analyzed the characteristics of the Zinc/DNA nanocluster and suggested its potential as a gene carrier.
