The purpose of the current research is aimed at investigating the association between a Taekwondo(TKD) program intervention and cardio-cerebrovascular disease(CCVD) risk factor, and depression on quality of life in middle-aged women worker. Twenty middle-aged women worker were assigned to TKD group(n=10), control group(n=10), and the TKD program consisted of program 60min/session, 3 days each per week for 12 weeks. Demographic, current medical history, and body composition were measured. Also, depression assessments and quality of life were performed by including the patients health questionnaire-9(PHQ-9) and EuroQol-5 dimension(EQ-5D), both at baseline and at a 12 weeks follow-up. The results of this study were as follows. First, in CCVD risk factor, BMI(p<.001), WC(p<.001), SBP(p<.001), DBP(p<.001), TC(p<.001), LDL-C(p<.001), HDL-C(p<.001), TG(p<.001), FBG(p<.001) and HbA1c(p<.001) were statistically significant. Second, in depression and quality of life, PHQ-p(p<.001) and EQ-5D(p<.001) were statistically significant. Third, depression and WC(r=.582 p<.01), SBP(r=.595, p<.01), and TC(r=.712, p<.01) presented a positive correlation while EQ-5D(r=-.912, p<.01) presented a negative correlation. Also, quality of life and WC(r=-.698 p<.01), SBP(r=-.588, p<.01), and TC(r=-.706, p<.01) presented a negative correlation. These findings suggest that TKD program may represent an effective intervention strategy for CCVD risk factor, depression, and quality of life in middle-aged women worker.
