This study aims to analyze the research trend of Korean hedging expression to provide direction for future research. In this study, 60 papers from RISS are analyzed regarding period, subject, and conversation status. The analysis results demonstrate its necessity in future studies. Firstly, the concept of ‘hedge’ is used in various terms by Korean researchers. However, the discussion has not yet been fully conducted. Secondly, there is little research on specific expressions. Specific combination analysis and morphological analysis are still insufficient, though the frequency of hedge expressions in academic texts was presented at the statistical level. Thirdly, the contrast research by language is seldom conducted. Considering that the use pattern of hedging expression differs with the language, they can be employed as valuable basic data in Korean education to conduct a comparative analysis. Fourthly, it is the unification of research data. Hedging expressions appear in various language environments while most of the studies related to hedging expressions in Korean focused on academic texts. Fifthly, it is the diversification of research subjects. Sixthly, it is necessary to make a list for education in each step.
