This study investigates the impacts of eight hypothetical tsunamis on major naval ports on the east coast of Korea. Gridded depth data (GEBCO15c) with high resolution (15 arc-second) was used to simulate a ray-tracing model. Variables such as travel time, paths, and concentration of the tsunami rays from the model simulations were analyzed in detail. Five of the eight tsunamis generated on the west coast of Japan had significant effects on the east coast of Korea, and the port of Donghae was estimated to be more affected by the tsunamis than that of Pohang. Based on the result, this paper presents detailed contingency plans to prepare warships for the impact of the tsunamis.
