Policosanol consumption has various positive physiological effects in humans such as antioxidant capabilities, cholesterol-lowering activities, and improved liver function. Wheat sprouts are a natural source of policosanol, making them a popular health food. The objective of this study was to test whether treatment of Wheat sprouts with organic acid and salts as an elicitor increases policosanol content compared with a control group of sprouts grown in water.
