The purpose of this study is to verify the morphologic and syntactic characteristics of adverbial dependent noun in 17th Korean. The result could be summarized as follows. Firstly, set up the list of adverbial dependent noun in 17th Korean. The list setting is listed in the existing study which first classified dependent nouns by function. And then, were verified a dependent nouns functioning mainly as adjectives in this list. After the selection, the list is classified into the annihilated, maintained, and generated by comparison with dependent noun appearing in the previous and subsequent periods. As a result, set up a list such as ‘(시), 대(로), 듕, 만1, 만2, 적(제), 죡죡(족족), 즉, 톄(체)’. Secondly, consider that the morphologic and syntactic characteristics of adverbial dependent nouns are related to the changes, and examined syntactic characteristics of adverbial dependent nouns. 17th-adverbial dependent nouns are generally not much constrained, and no major changes have occurred. Morphological constraints seem to play a role in classifying adverbial dependent nouns, and syntactic constraints seem to be closely related to the degree of dependent noun transitions. In conclusion, the constrained environment is considered to be correlated with the change of adverbial dependent nouns.
