불국사는 신라시대에 조성되어 지금까지 찬란한 문화의 꽃을 피우면서 우리에게 문화적 자긍심과 불교의 진리를 설파해주는 성지로서 많은 역할을 해오고 있다.
특히 불국사의 경내에 있는 불국선원은 월산 큰스님의 원력과 발원으로 이루어진 수행처이다. 월산큰스님은 선교율(禪敎律)에 정통하시면서 철저한 간화선수행과 지혜의 안목을 갖추시었고 이사(理事)에 원융무애한 명안종사이셨다.
1974년에 주지로 취임하신 월산큰스님은 폐사나 다름없이 폐허된 불국사를 복원하는데 온 힘을 쏟았고 큰스님은 사찰은 관광지가 아니라 수행과 신행도량임을 중시하였다. 그래서 정부의 관심 밖인 수행처인 승당과 선원, 강원 등이 갖추어져야 한다고 생각하였다. 이후에 큰스님은 민가를 사고 선원을 건립하기 시작하였는데 많은 난관에도 불구하고 큰스님의 원력과 종상스님의 은사에 대한 지극한 효심이 어우러져 수행도량으로 면모를 새롭게 하게 된다.
큰스님께서는 조실로서 열반에 드시기까지 납자들을 지도하시었는데 이것은 평생 큰스님께서 화두를 놓치지 않고 정진하신 진정한 스승의 모습이었다.
이러한 불국선원은 많은 명안종사께서 수행을 하시었고 선풍을 드날리셨다. 1982년 하안거부터 1984년 동안거까지 월산큰스님의 제자인 법달(法達)스님이 선원장의 소임을 보았다. 이후 1995년 동안거부터 종우(宗雨)스님이 선원장의 소임을 보면서 1997년 동안거부터 설당(雪堂, 종우)스님께서 선원장의 소임을 지금까지 이어가고 있다. 그리고 이외에 입승스님과 대중스님들의 본사들을 보면 대체적으로 법주사와 불국사를 중심으로 전국 교구본사의 많은 스님들이 동참하고 수행 정진하면서 한국선의 종풍을 드날리고 있음을 알 수 있다.
Regarding the Bulguksa Temple, by being created in the Silla Dynasty, while the flower of the splendid culture had been blooming until now, it has been playing a lot of the roles as a sacred place that elucidates the cultural pride and the truth of Buddhism to us.
Especially, the Bulguk Seonwon that is in the precinct of the Bulguksa Temple is a place of practice that is materialized with the power and the origin of the great Buddhist monk Wolsan. Regarding the great Buddhist monk Wolsan, while being familiar with the missionary law, he had possessed the meticulous koan meditation practice and the discerning eye of the wisdom. And he was a good-eye worker who had been wonyungmuae to the director.
The great Buddhist monk Wolsan, who was inaugurated as the chief Buddhist monk in the year 1974, he had poured in all of his strength on restoring the Bulguksa Temple, which had become a ruin without any difference from a ruined temple. And the great Buddhist monk had laid the emphasis that the Buddhist temple is not a tourist destination but a place for practice and a shinhaeng doryang. So, I had thought that the Seungdang, the Seonwon, the Gangwon, etc., which are outside the interest of the government, must be possessed. Afterwards, the great Buddhist monk bought a private house and began to build a seonwon. Despite a lot of the difficulties, the power of the great Buddhist monk and the extreme filial piety regarding the teacher of the Buddhist monk Jongsang had harmonized, the appearance gets around to being done newly with the performance skills.
Regarding the great Buddhist monk, as a joshil, until entering the nirvana, he had guided the napjas. This had been the appearance of a true teacher who had been devoted while not missing the topic of conversation on the part of the great Buddhist monk for the whole life.
Regarding such a Bulguk Seonwon, a lot of good eye workers had practiced, and it had been a sensation. From the haangeo in the year 1982 until the dongangeo in the year 1984, the Buddhist monk Beopdal, who was a disciple of the great Buddhist monk Wolsan, had been seeing the duties of the sailor. Afterwards, in the year 1995, from the dongangeo, while the Buddhist monk Jongwoo had been seeing the duties of the sailor, in the year 1997, from the dongangeo, the Buddhist monk Seoldang (Jongwoo) has been continuing the duties of a sailor until now. And, other than these, if the bonsas of the Buddhist monk Ipseung and the public monks are seen, mostly, centered on the Beopjusa Temple and the Bulguksa Temple, while a lot of the Buddhist monks of the National Parish Headquarters co-participate and performance devote, it can be known that the bell wind of the Korean line has been flying.
