This study analyzed to examine the effectiveness and safety of exercise by observing muscle oxygen saturation(SmO₂) and total hemoglobin(tHb) using near infrared spectroscopy(NIRS), physiological variables during body weight squat(BW-S) and squat with blood flow restriction squat(BFR-S) exercise. Twenty-one healthy women were collected and separated to two groups(BW-S and BFR-S). The following results were drawn.
SmO₂ was significantly decreased and heart rate(HR), systolic blood pressure(SBP) were increased at the start, end of exercise, 5 min recovery during BW-S and BRF-S exercise, but no significance between both treatment. On the other hand, tHb seems to have the opposite effect of BW-S exercise, tending to increase at BFR-S exercise, and rate pressure product(RPP) seems to promote greater BFR-S.
In summary, the change in SmO₂ was not significant due to BFR-S exercise at an average pressure of 280 SKU, but given the increase in tHb and RPP, it was judged to have the effect of increasing exercise intensity. Therefore, we suggest it is necessary to clarify that the effect was confirmed by practicing long-term exercise.
