This study was to propose criterion of selections of established and new sports for sustainable developments of athletic departments in Goyang-si. Moreover, this study made a suggestion to reasonable application and evaluation system of athletic departments in Goyang-si based on these criterion. There are three main findings. First, each nine criterion for established and new sports of athletic departments were developed in this study. Second, some events in established sports were competitive in terms of reasonable costs of buying players and average annual salaries of them, high levels of athletic performance or rich local infrastructures and so on. On the other hand, some events in the case of new sports were competitive in terms of Olympic new sports, preferred sports in Goyang-si or rich local infrastructures and so on. Finally, this study proposed rational evaluation system for criterion of selections of events and sports support system.
