The purpose of this paper is to find strategies for tourism development of water-based rural area and to suggest the method to grasp strategies for area development. Visitor survey was done on the field. A useful sample size was 240.
χ²-test of the difference of the ratio of self-cooking and taking local food by behavioral variables was a good one to find developmental strategies. Main strategies are ① to sustain the chance for self-cooking with family members in water-based rural area, ② to increase the ratio of taking local foods by remending and extending the supply of private lodging and accommodations at farm-garden, ③ to develop various local foods for promoting the revisits and visits in non-summer seasons.
