This Paper treats the traits of fishery-laboring folk songs sung in such 6 seashored towns(or cities) as Dang-jin Gun, Seo-san Si, Tae-an Gun, Hong-sung Gun, Bo-ryeong Si, Seo-cheon Gun, which are all close to Yellow Sea or including some islands in themselves. For the further investigation, this study applies the Chungcheong part of 『MBC HanKuk Minyo Daejeon (the compilation of Korean folksongs)』 and the original sound data from the AKS(the Academy of Korean Studies) for analysis, with the exception of Hong-sung Gun's case now that songs of Hong-sung Gun were not written in those records.
The singing methods of the fishery-laboring folk songs gathered on the west seashores of Chungnam Province are mostly characteristic in "lead and take" styled, in specific like a 〈rowing songs〉 there are many songs of a duet effect exchanging the leading and taking sounds. And the rhythms are largely styled of triple small time & binary time system(≒6/8) in every beat being different according to the laboring manners. In cases of scales and runes there appears multi-styled methods, firstly in the fishery-laboring folk songs of Dang-jin Gun, Seo-san Si, Tae-an Gun near from Gyeonggi Province remains the styles of Menari-tori(re'-do'-la-sol-mi, in the la mode), NambuKyeong-tori(mi'-re'-do'-sol in the do mode), Yukjabaegi-tori(mi'-re'-do'-si-la-sol-mi in the sol or la mode), Susimga-tori(re-(mi)-(sol)-la-do'), secondly in the songs of Bo-ryeong Si located in the midst of Chungnam Province remains the styles of Yukjabaegi-tori, Menari-tori, Perfect forth + minor third type, and finally in the songs of Seo-cheon Gun adjacent to Jeollabuk Province remains the those of Yukjabaegi-tori, Perfect forth+minor third type. From these points of view, in accordance, it would be concluded that there remains more types of Yukjabaegi-tori and the Perfect forth+minor third style along the south sites being the same patterns of the weeding songs for rice farming in Chungnam Province.
The fishery-laboring folk songs, the same pattern as the weeding songs for rice farming, have influences on one another in the regional matrix system, although some estranged songs effected from the sea routes of Yellow Sea are appeared. And the appearance of different musical tunes in Chungnam Province explains itself that Chungnam Province is located amongst the regions of Gyeonggi Province named for its Kyeong-tori typed culture, Gyeongsang Province named for its Menari-tori typed culture, Jeolla Province named for its Yukjabaegi-tori typed culture and it takes acculturation with the neighbors before and now.
