That the study system of Korean clothing is confirmed by literature study, and the framework has been prepared through A Research of Clothing in Joseon Period by Lee, Yeu-sung, A Study of Korean Clothing History by Kim, Dong-wook and A Study of Korean Clothing History by Yu, Hee-gyung. The study of Korean clothing history was actively unfolded by preceding scholars, and the issuance of a scientific journal, "Clothing" was made in 1977 through formation of a society of Korean clothing study. Even though, theses dealing with Korean clothing in various academic societies are issued, the academic societies focusing on clothing from segmented major fields in home economics are Korea Fashion & Costume Design Association and Korea Fashion Business Society, as well as Korea Society for Clothing. Hanbok Cultural Society was established by scholars mainly studying Hanbok and researchers working at the frontline industrial firms in 1997. In 1998, Hanbok Cultural Society was registered with Korea Research Foundation and was authorized as an incorporated body by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Hanbok Cultural Society has issued vol. 10 and serial number 29 of scientific journals so far. As the only industry-academia cooperative society focusing on the study of Hanbok in name and reality, the study achievements of Hanbok Cultural Society for 10 years have been published. Among them, the study of Hanbok history accounted for most. The study of Hanbok marketing and design development is required furthermore in the future.
