This thesis is designed to reconstruct the life and teaching of Dr. Yune Sun Park as a church reformer. His basic idea of the church is that she has to be governed by the word of God and to remain to be holy, in doctrine and in practice. What he thought to prevent her from purity was power politics in the church. So his life can be summarized as a struggle with the authoritarians within the body of Christ. In some cases, he fought with them, and in many times he was persecuted and cast out by them.
The church he served after the Liberation was stained with the sin of the Shinto Shrine worship. He separated himself from the main Presbyterian body and participated into establishing the Koryo group. He had to resign from the group after he failed to reform the church. In the General Assembly Seminary the struggle became even harsher. When he took over the office of presidency he tried very hard to govern the Seminary according to God's word, only to be turned out to be impossible. This timehe voluntarily resigned from the seminary and built another one with his four colleagues, Hapdong Theological Seminary, and after a while, another denomination. Thus, it’ is not without reason for him to be called a ‘separatist.
In this thesis, I tried to demonstrate that this criticism is not fair enough. He has a zeal to reform the church with God's word, but it failed. And as the last resort, he chose to resign from the church or to be resigned forcefully. But still he made all his effort to keep the body of Christ to be one. He never condemned the impure church as a false church.
