This study explores English learning strategies and styles and how they are interrelated in a Korean context. After reviewing myths associated with English learning strategies and styles, Style Analysis Survey (Oxford, 1993) and Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (Oxford, 1990) were used to provide explanations of Korean learners' English learning styles and strategies. There were 72 students sampled in this study. Results showed that most were visual, extroverted, intuitive-random, or global learners. In addition, they employed compensatory strategies most frequently. Styles related to how Korean students deal with ideas (global and analytic styles) and how they handle possibilities (intuitive-random and concrete-sequential styles) displayed statistically significant influences on overall strategy use. The results of this study provide a better understanding of Korean learners' styles and strategies and may serve as a useful aid for English teachers.
