The purpose of this research is to survey the perspectives of faith of the early Christian communities in order of the writing periods of the New Testament: Q source(A. D. 50), the Pauline Epistles(A. D. 50-60), the Gospel of Mark(A. D. 70), Matthew and Luke(A. D. 80), John(A. D. 90) and Revelation(A. D. 90-100).
The survey shows that each community had its own Christology and viewpoint of faith based on it and that the viewpoints had not only the common points but also differences from one another.
The commonness of them is faith of Jesus Christ. But the focuses of their faith were placed on different parts of Jesus' ministry, and that made the differences in their perspectives of faith.
Q source made Jesus' parousia as the core of its faith, while Pauline community had a kerygmatic angle about passion, burial and resurrection of Jesus. In comparison with them, Mark-Community had focused fully on Jesus' death on the Cross, although it took also kerygmatic point of view as Pauline Community. Matthew and Luke, different from Mark, proclaimed God's salvation that was expressed through the whole life of Jesus. Matthew viewed the Jesus' whole life as God' Presence, while Luke laid emphasis on the liberating work of Jesus: i. e. Jesus is the Present Salvation for all.
John and Revelation confessed Jesus as the Same One with God, a more advanced Christology. John confessed Jesus as the Incarnated Logos and stressed the personal encounter with Him. Revelation explained the external relationship with Jesus; on one hand he is Creator and Master of History as God, on the other hand he is the Lamb who was slain. It means that only martyrdom and love could create a New Earth and a New Heaven, not power and struggle. Therefore, Revelation-community should have taken a way of martyrdom as the Lamb who was slain.
Among the above mentioned viewpoints of faith, the view of Pauline community had been accepted as the representative perspective of protestant church with its systematic, synthetical, kerygmatic point of view.
