The purpose of this study is to find changing features of subject function ‘-기’nominal clauses from 16th century to 18th century's in Korean. This paper can be summarized as follows:
In the 15th century, 「-?m」 functioned as an inflectional ending, and 「-ki」 functioned as a derivational suffix. In this century, 「-ki」 was rare.
From the 16th century, 「-ki」 began to function as an inflectional ending, but it was rare. And the great part of the 「-ki」-nominal clauses functioned as the object.
From the 17th century, 「-ki」 regularly began to function as an inflectional ending, but it was yet fewer than 「-?m」. In the 18th century, 「-ki」-nominal clauses that functioned as the subject were more found than the 17th century.
As time goes by, the function of 「-?m」and 「-ki」 crossed each other. And we can see the 17th and 18th century was the crossing point.
