This paper investigates the determinants of performance in international strategic alliances in the case of Korean firms. In this paper we analysed it by separating equity alliance from nonequity ones. And also three stage tried step-wise analysis.
As results of multiple regression, partner's commitment and contribution were found as the major determinants of performance in international strategic alliances in the pre-alliance stage. And participation, systematic management and flexible operation were found as the major determinants of performance in the post-alliance stage. Finally local government's supporting policy was found as the major determinant of performance in the sustainable partnership building stage.
These findings show that companies should approach their alliance strategy according to their types of alliance when they try to improve the performance of international strategic alliance.
