With rapid environmental changes, the great expansion of internet has brought a change to the business paradigm. So new management methods and business organizations are needed. The companies who have failed to comply with e-business will fall behind in the competition. Nowadays e-business enterprises are having strategic alliances as competitive strategies in e-business field. In this study, the state of strategic alliances among e-business companies has been analyzed to verify the traits of strategic alliances is suggested.
According to the analysis,
First, strategic alliances of on-line and off-line have increased. It is preferred by e-business companies to strengthen competitiveness because on and off lines are also essential parts of market.
Second, with recent expansion of internet market, alliances between e-business industry and other industry have been enlarged among e-business companies as well. They are seeking strategic alliances to get cost reduction and synergy effects from them.
Third, increase of alliances with foreign companies. It is a bridgehead to the world market having competitive advantage. From this point of view, proper alliance partner selection and on-off line alliance promotion are essential for the success of strategic alliance of e-business. First thing to do is to eliminate barriers of on-off line alliance and coordination.
Transparent management is also needed for fair assessment of corporate value.
In conclusion, Korean e-business companies have to secure a stepping stone with up-to-date technologies and to participate strategic alliances and capital investment with foreign companies to become world class e-business companies.
