It has been 56 years since Korean has been divided into two countries by the ideological policies originated from the USA and the USSR. The blow of IMF in 1997 forced us to accept the Neo-liberalistic Economic System and Neo-liberalistic Globalization. Now, the Korean Church has to treat this divided-nation`s situation in view of the matter of existence and faith. It`s time for the Korean Church to explore ways towards Reunification of Korea. Above all, as a self-reflective view, we have to confess the sins of the Korean Church during this divided-nation`s situation and say good bye to them which we have been accustomed to. The Korean Church has to confess its cowardice. After the independence from Japan, it gave up its conscience by conniving at its iniquities during the colonial period. The Korean Church has to repent its dishonor of inspiring animosity against North Korea. The Korean Church has to confess its shame of the prompt sanction for the government in South Korea. After the division, the Korean Church has given continual sanction to the political powers conniving at their iniquities. The Korean Church has to repent its blind acceptance of the superficial Capitalism. The Korean Church has to confess the separatism in churches, the regionalism and the excessive expansionism for his own church. These have been the hinderance for the union of the churches, which hampered the church being a constructive motivator for the structural change in Korean society. The Korean Church in the middle of the divided-nation`s situation developed some particular theology to justify and to vindicate its shameful past. This particular theology itself was the most shameful self-portrait in the Korean Church in divided-nation`s situation, because it intensified the shames of the past which had to be abolished. The theology of the Korean Church was an evangelical one which lacked the third-use of the Law (J. Calvin). It was the theologia crucis that belittled theologia gloriae, the theologia gloriae that belittled theologia crucis. It gave the Pauline theology an ascendancy over the fame`s theology. It was confusional between the one in the irresponsible claim for separation and the one in the selfish claim for union of the Church and politics. Now, then, what theological positions should the Korean Church take to overcome its theological problems and to suggest new solutions for Korean society? The Korean Church should take open theology that is balanced by truth and freedom. It should take ecumenical theology which is against pastors and lay christians who only concern about their own church and the fundamental bigotry. It should take Theo-praxis theology. It should hold to theology of life that challenges Christians in their life. When the Korean Church takes these theological positions mentioned above, it can recognize that our division-nation`s situation is the problem of faith awaiting urgent effort, which will expedite the Reunification of North and South Korea.
