From an universal standpoint of the present time, Chinese shamanism is classified into Shamanism of the north and Na of the south. Na is the only shamanism ceremony, which is conducted on a large scale like Korean Gut. Therefore, this study is focused on Na affiliated shamanism ceremony in order to analyze Chinese shamanism and shaman"s costumes.
For this study, based on related literature data regarding Na, which is a type of shamanism representing China, the historical stream of Na and shaman"s costumes in Nuo was analyzed and a field survey on Na in Nanfeng-hyun, China was carried out to examine the uniqueness and kinds of shaman"s costumes. This study is based on a review of literature and a field survey. The unique characteristics of shaman"s costumes in Na are as follows. First, the "pillar of a circle" has been the basic style of shaman"s costumes to wear for Na since old times. The Na in Nanfeng-hyun is a shaman"s costume to inherit the "pillar of a circle", which has been passed down since ancient times. Second, as a shaman"s costume, the team wore Hos and arm warmers that are part of warrior"s costume in a battle. Third, the team wore flower-printed skirts to inherit the form of clothing of goddess wearing the embroidered dress with floral patterns.
