Shamanism contained ethnic religious and cultural customs to express inherent tradition, but in later generations, this was influenced by folk religion and cultural customs of Han Chinese gradually and was mixed with Han-Chinese culture, or transformed. Chinese shaman’s costumes have highly changed by being mixed with Nuo-Tang-Xi. Therefore, this study targeted the costumes stored in a museum. These shaman’s costumes are symbolic and important materials to understand shaman’s costumes of the Tang era and as expression tools of shamanism, so this study analyzed the types of shaman’s costumes. The research method was to examine documents related to shamanism and to conduct field trips to Chinese museums. The field trip was made in Yichun and Yitong Folk Museum of Jilin province, which is a historical site of shaman culture, where Chinese costume can be examined. The field trip period is from February 6 to 8, 2015. The kinds and types of shamanist costumes in Yotong Museum are as follows. First, Kwanmo describes the existence of bird, which is a medium between human being and spirit. Shaman’s crown is divided into three parts: a hood and a wide band, an accessory and a string of cloth to cover the whole face. The string is a very important and symbolic part in shaman’s costume to help a shaman see the divine world with his or her internal sight. Second, in the top, there are a reflecting copper mirror, a metal plate accessory and a feather. The reason why these are attached to the top, is to protect a shaman and to display shaman’s power. Third, Yoryeon is attached to the skirt. As a bell or metal ring, this is to get rid of evil spirits using the sound. In shaman’s costume with a bell, which makes a loud sound, there are various meanings in the accessory rather than the type of costume and this is regarded as a medium that implies a divine existence.
