Purpose: Speech sound arrangement are influenced by various factors such as phonological knowledge and short-term memory capacity as well as speech output ability. Especially, in the case of the people with communication disorders, they have difficulties in selecting and arranging correct phonemes. Therefore, there have been various studies focusing on phonological processing. In this study, we aim to develop a computerized task that can evaluate the ability to encode non-word-based repeating assignment in a sequential order. Methods: Non-word items from 3 syllables to 6 syllables to be used in the assignment were selected. The average syllable frequency of the items in each syllable number was calculated by referring to the frequency dictionary, and wordlikeness ratings were evaluated in 68 undergraduate students majoring in speech-language pathology. After selecting appropriate evaluation criteria and scoring method for Korean non-word items, we constructed them as window-based computerized task. Results: In order to facilitate the scoring of subjects" responses, the syllable structure of the non-word items was limited to the CV syllables. The mean total syllable frequency of non-words was 1020.19, and wordlikeness ratings were less than 2 points in all items. Through the computerized task, it was possible to automatically record the subject"s responses and to automatically mark the retrieval and the arrangement scores. Conclusions: The computerized non-word repetition task developed in this study will contribute to easier and more accurate evaluation of the phonological processing ability of the people with communication disorders.
