In this paper we have reviewed the technical and economic aspects of the structure of Bit-coin and its value formation. The reason why we review about Bit-coin structure is that Bit-coin privately issued through computer network may coexist with the sovereign money in the future. In the case Bit-coin dominates the sovereign money, then the government lose the monopoly power to supply money, not monitoring the financial system completely. Our view about currently emerging Bit-coin system is that it is necessary result of the payment evolution ongoing since ancient times. We have reviewed the major building blocks of Bitcoin system - two pillars of cryptography in mathematics and incentive mechanism in game theory. Furthermore Distributed ledger technology(DLT) based on these major building blocks are now being employed in every sector of economy, particularly in financial industry. The wide spread of DLT across all the sectors of the economy may facilitate collapsing the existing economic system, eventually evolving into the new system the form of which no one expects. Responding to the emergence of private money like Bit-coin, Central Banks somewhere is now considering or experimenting issuing Central Bank Crypto-currencies(CBCCs). Following literature we have characterized the distinctive difference between CBCC and Bit-coin.
Given the coexistence of private money like Bi-tcoin and sovereign money, we also investigated the equilibrium behavior of prices of these monies. The equilibrium behavior of Bit-coin or sovereign money depends on the belief structure inherent in the economic agents in the economy. This investigation follows form Garrat and Wallace(2017).
