The goal of this paper is to analyze and compare phonics in the five elementary school English textbooks developed on the basis of the 2015 Revised National Curriculum. The comparisons were made in terms of (1) the amount of phonics, (2) the kinds of phonics rules, and (3) the presented order of phonics rules. The main results were as follows. First, the textbooks varied greatly in the amount of phonics as observed by the notable differences in how many lessons were used to present the alphabet. Second, the textbooks differed greatly in the kinds of phonics rules they presented. Third, there was a wide variance in the order the phonics rules were presented. These differences of phonics were, in general, greater than those found in the earlier textbooks developed according to the 2009 Revised National Curriculum. The importance of phonics as well as the alphabet to young English learners cannot be over emphasized. It is, therefore, suggested that more phonics rules be included and that the order of phonics rules be more standardized in the next national curriculum.
