This paper discusses the disease related witchcraft in ancient Chinese nursery rhymes. These rhymes are called Medical nursery rhymes, which are sung to pray for deities and keep children away from diseases, reflecting the thoughts of witch doctors in ancient times.
There are three reasons for the emergence of medical nursery rhymes: the first is the idea of the same origin of medical and sorcery. It is recognized in the medical field that the earliest doctors came from witches and witches always used songs and dances. Secondly, the ancients believed in rhymes. On the one hand, the ancients regarded nursery rhymes as auguries. On the other hand, the ancient people"s worship of Chinese characters made people believe that the things represented by Chinese characters and Chinese characters have supernatural power. Third, the ancients" superstition on children also affected people"s superstition on medical nursery rhymes.
In ancient China, witchcraft believed that witches could control the power of nature and that the same things could interact with each other. Therefore, witchcraft is actually a kind of idealistic treatment, mainly including prayer, blessing and forbidding
In the nursery rhymes, they are prayer nursery rhyme, blessing nursery rhyme and forbidden incantation nursery rhyme. Three kinds of nursery rhymes focus on praying, treatment and prevention. The birth of prayer nursery rhymes is related to people"s primitive belief in the natural. The blessing nursery rhymes and forbidden incantation nursery rhymes are all related to the primitive belief that people worship ghosts and gods.
