This paper aims to examine the food consumption behavior after COVID-19 outbreak and analyzes whether school closures, which are enforced as part of ‘Social Distancing’ have an effect on household food consumption by carrying out surveys from RDA two times in this year. First of all, the anxiety about food purchase was rather decreasing a little bit after school closures and households show that their food consumption increases over time. The fact that households are more willing to purchase food online and mobile for the infection prevention corroborates our previous findings. Meanwhile, School feeding was naturally abandoned due to the government enforcement amid COVID-19. As a result, households who have primary, middle or high school students substitute their meals at home as much as it was and so their consumption patterns have taken a different aspect. Therefore, We study the change in their food consumption behavior econometrically. we conclude that households who have primary, middle and high school students increases the probability of boosting food spending for home meals by 9 percent-points due to the school closures. This result not only shows that how much they increase food spending for home cooked meals even though school feeding is halted but also predicts the change in food spending due to a kind of Social Distancing. Moreover, it is generally helpful to establish a practical strategy to cope with COVID-19 for agriculture production and marketing.
