This study tested how deluxe hotel employees’ burnout affected their social loafing and counterproductive work behaviors to examine the negative influence of social loafing. Employees working in deluxe hotels located in Seoul were chosen as the subject of this study. A total of 282 copies of the questionnaires were retrieved, among which 261 were used for the final analysis after discarding those with insufficient answers. The statistical programs of SPSS (Version 22.0) and AMOS (Version 20.0) were used for the analyses in this study. Based on the results, the deluxe hotel employees’ burnout was proven to increase their social loafing, wherein the impact on social loafing was largest in the case of non-accomplishment, followed by cynicism and exhaustion. The social loafing perceived by the deluxe hotel employees increased intra-organizational counterproductive work behavior, while no moderating role of gender was observed. The findings of this study imply that organizations need to be aware of the importance of social loafing and that they should strategically seek plans to reduce it.
