Recent research on early Korean missiologists Hojin Jun, ChaeOk Chun, and Kwangsoon Lee shows that they have influenced the missiological thoughts of their denominations. Presbyterian Church in Korea-Hapdong is one of the largest Presbyterian churches in Korea. It has 11,686 churches in Korea and more than 2.3 million members and 25,477 ordained ministers. Many consider Sung Sam Kang as such a person. Kang was the director of GMS when the organization experienced phenomenal growth and a missions professor, teaching many missionaries and pastors, and the general secretary of Korea World Mission Association. Above all, Kang was a missiologist of Presbyterian Church in Korea-Hapdong. He was one of the earliest missions professor at Chongshin University. He asked questions that had good practical value. In this article, I have attempted to look at the life and works of Sung Sam Kang. This is the first study on the life and works of Sung Sam Kang. Firstly, I looked at Kang’s life and ministry. Then, I categorized Kang’s published works into four themes, which is followed by the assessment of his works.
