본 연구는 AHWE와 AHEE의 멜라닌 생성 억제 효과를 확인하고자 하였다. AHWE 및 AHEE의 미백효과를 확인하기 위해 tyrosinase 저해 활성 및 B16F10 melanoma 세포를 이용하여 멜라닌 생성 저해 효과, 미백 관련 인자인 MITF, TRP-1, TRP-2의 단백질 발현 억제 효과를 western blot으로 측정하였다. 그 결과 tyrosinase 저해 활성을 확인하였고, B16F10 melanoma 세포의 멜라닌 합성을 저해하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 미백 관련 인자 MITF, TRP-1, TRP-2 단백질 발현 측정에서도 모두 발현이 억제됨으로써 미백효능이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 AHWE 및 AHEE가 tyrosinase의 활성 및 멜라닌 생성의 억제를 통해 미백과 색소침착 완화제로 응용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.
