This thesis intends to clarify the origin of the terminology 'speaker' in poetics. It seems that the 'speaker' or 'speaker theory' is very clear and useful in today poetics. Thus the fact the term and theory about speaker is born in certain period is passed by today poetics. And it treat the 'speaker' as the real substance which is inside of poem.
It has considered that the 'speaker' is same with the 'poet'. But it is reversed by the theory of speaker. The important point in the process of theorization of 'speaker' is the speaker is 'designed' for the necessarity.
In other words, the creation and acceptation the poetry will be more aesthetic if we treat the speaker as independent being with poet, so the 'speaker' need to be designed. Thus the birth of term and theory of 'speaker' is very closely connected with the perspective which consider the poetry as not autographic confession but fictional composition.
