This thesis analyzed Jinyangjo of Chusan Jeon, Yong-seon(全用先, 1887~1964)'s Danso Sanjo(短簫散調; short bamboo vertical flute Sanjo), who was a master musician during the modem age, after listening to his music and writing notes.
Jeon, Yong-seon who was known as an originator of Danso Sanjo was born in Kobu, Jeonbuk, mastered music of Jeon, Gae-mun(全桂文, 1872~1940) at the age of 17, went through the process of sound-acquirement(得音). He was favorably commented upon his Danso solo in Wongaksa, in June, 1957. He died in 1964 after receiving the Korean classic music award on December the 28th, 1963. His music was appointed as the intangible cultural assets No. 83, Hyangjaejulpungryu(鄕制絲風流; local string music) in 1985, and has been transmitted.
Summing up studies on Danso Sanjo Jinyangjo performed by Jean, Yong-seon, the outline is as follows;
First, Jeon, Yong-seon's Danso Sanjo Jinyangjo is composed by 36 kaks(刻) in total on one time(kak) of 6 heats(♩ ×6), is divided into 7 units according to pitch changes like finalis and pitch-turns.
Second, Danso Sanjo Jinyangjo has the hemitonic pentatonic scale(有半音五音音階) consisting of G, B<SUP>♭</SUP>, C, D, E<SUP>♭</SUP>. Its musical range is Jelado-Traditional Music's Gyemyeonjo(界面調) through 2 octave 2°tone((g → a"), and the main pitch is C.
Third, each constituent pitch has characteristic pitch functions of Jelado-Traditional Music's Gyemyeonjo, main pitches change according to
G pitch in a strongly vibrating function
C pitch in a plainly sounding function
E♭ → D pitch in a turning function,
therefore, pitch functions change, too.
Fourth, key(淸) changed 6 times. C, G, E<SUP>♭</SUP> functioned as main pitches in 36-kak Danso Sanjo of Jeon, Yong-seon.
32-kaks(89%) are C-centered,
2-kaks(5.55%) are G-centered
2-kaks(5.5%) are E<SUP>♭</SUP>-centered,
so is was C-key(本淸) music.
In particular, E<SUP>♭</SUP>-centered 32kak~33kak gave an atmosphere of Woojo(羽調).
Jeㅐn, Yong-seon's Danso Sanjo Jinyangjo showed a typical Jelado-Traditional Gyemyeonjo melody, whose central tone is C, throughout 36 kaks. Jeon, Yong-seon's Danso Sanjo Jinyangjo is thought to overcome structural limits of Danso, furthermore, it expanded the area of Danso music into 'Sanjo'. Conclusively, Danso Sanjo Jinyangjo proved a profound artistic state of Jeon, Yong-seon,
