In my opinion, teaching musical instrument in modem music education is not successful. Students learn how to play various kinds of musical instruments in music class at school from elementary to high school days. However, after graduation, very few students enjoy playing the instrument they learned at school. This is because they couldn't reach a certain level of playing the instrument and it is true to traditional music and western music as well.
One of the characteristics of the National 7th Educational Curriculum is that traditional music education gets more attention in music education. According to the study of Korean Danso Education Association, Danso is one of the most wide-spread musical instrument in traditional music education, but students are not satisfied in learning due to the lack of sufficient understanding of Danso and effective teaching methods.
To reach a goal of education, students should understand the principles of learning and spend time in a systematic way.
In this study, how to hold Danso, how to breathe, and how to read notes are presented and practical steps in learning how to play Danso is explained in detail. I admit that It is limited to write down practical teaching process. For the best result of the education, more development on effective teaching method should be continued.
