Hotels have been recognized as an enterprise that has lower environmental pollution than the manufacturing industry. But the recognition that hotels are not exceptional in the environmental pollution is increasing due to the increase of social responsibility regarding an environmental pollution and the strengthening of various regulations recently. Otherwise, hotels in Korea perceive the necessity of an environmental management to minimize the environmental pollution and continue the essential operation of the industry, but they don't get out of the first stage in the substantial point like the environmental investment.
Conclusions
In conclusion, this study shows that,
(1) The environmental management of hotels will need the strict limitation and regulation lawfully.
(2) For the environmental management of hotels we can feel the necessity of constructing the system with the support of the government and the self-governing body.
(3) According to the level of hotels there are some differences in the practical intention and the environmental management system.
(4) According to the location of hotels there are no differences in the practical intention and the environmental management system.
(5) In case of analyzing the difference of the locations of hotels, the comparison of the environmental recognition or the area condition can be more effective than just the area.
Limitations of the study and future research
(1) Although the Questions must be considered about nationwide sample to extract the meaningful conclusion in this study, it became limit in two locations, Seoul and Busan.
(2) The object of Questions should be the CEO and all employees of hotel, but this study limits the environmental manager. As a result, we expect that the next study that will be extended in the range of the research can suggest the more meaningful results than the study which researched the cases of the environmental management, the environmental equipment, the environmental regulation, and the environmental practice.
