This study aims to analyze ESP textbooks for pre-service flight attendants and suggest a sample instruction model based on the result of ESP textbooks' evaluation. The researchers collected seven practical English textbooks in the field of aviation services and analyzed them using an ESP textbook evaluation checklist which consists of five categories (i.e., contents, vocabulary/grammar, activities, appearance, and context). Consequently, most of the textbooks contain authentic use of target language with fairly good design; however, vocabulary and grammar are not presented systematically and activities are not focused on meaningful interactive speaking practice. Moreover, even the goals for each lesson are not specified. The new instruction model proposed in the study focuses on listening and speaking practice with various task-based activities. In order to have learners practice the target language sufficiently in the classroom, ESP textbook materials should be designed as authentic as possible, updated frequently and include listening practice with regional English accents and oral report sessions.
