This paper aims not only to examine the connection between vocabulary in 4 kinds of story-focused English textbooks for age 3, 4 and 5 in English education institutions for children and the chosen one by criteria of communication fields focusing on NURI course by age 3 to 5, but also to help the development of childhood English textbooks by looking into reflection ratio of vocabulary recommended in current elementary-school English education course.
The results are as follows:
First, in 20 divided communication fields, the nouns accounted for. The nouns fall into the category of body exercise, health, social relation. Also, the verbs and adjectives second most accounted for. They are under the category of social relation, art activity, communication and a study of nature. This shows that vocabulary of 4 institutions is connected with communication field belonging to 5 fields in current NURI course. Second, looking into how often the recommended vocabulary in elementary-school English by age has been reflected on, it is shown that the institution C represents 168 in age 3, and C and D 170 in age 4, while the institution A reflecting most highly on the one represents 204 in age 5. In addition, another result excluding the overlapped one in the recommended vocabulary list of elementary-school English shows that, considering its reflection ratio, English textbook of institution C is the highest by 66%(331), followed by institution A with 63%(315) and B with 62%(312), while D is the lowest by 59%(293). This result shows that the connection between elementary school English education course and English education institutions for children would have an effect on learning, which will occur more expectedly.
