Pantaleón y las visitadoras shows the madness which exists in the world with two principal histories: One by the captain Pantaleón Pantoja and the other by the Brother Francisco and the Brothers of Ark. Through the transformation of the captain Pantoja, the footprints of the Brother Francisco, two characters, who, at a glance, seem to become and be mad respectively, and those of the Brothers of Ark, as Foucault says in his book, The History of the Madness, that the madness reveals what is hidden with the mad, Mario Vargas Llosa points out the madness present in the rain forest, in Peru, and all around the world, demonstrates and implies the social darkness with the gaze of the characters who represent two different, but interrelated types of craziness. As a result, Pantaleón y las visitadoras continues to be in the field of total novel like his previous works. In this sense, this article tries to analyze the reasons, the aspects, and the significance of the madness, which consists of two parts: the physical madness of the unbearable sexual desire and the mental madness of the blind religious belief. Indulging their motives related to the climate and the society, this article attempts to show how Pantaleón y las visitadoras discovers the concealed reality and what this intention means.
