This study analyzes the trend in area of pronunciation/notation among College Scholastic Ability Test Japanese I, which was implemented between 2001 and 2018. As a summary of analysis, questions related to Hiragana, Katakana and Chinese character transcriptions have a large portion in test, however questions for evaluating pronunciation ability are some of ‘mora’ questions. Given the influence of the college scholastic ability test, if various questions are reflected in test, Japanese education will be importantly treated in educational institutes, albeit the test has restriction as writing and objective test. First of all, questions are needed to evaluate whether student can distinguish the meaning by position of accent for voice capability assessment. Second, since intonation and prominence have close relationship with operational ability in communication, introduction of listening comprehension test is needed to evaluate the ability. Lastly, questions of ‘Romanization’ and ‘Kanazukai’ and ‘Okurigana’ are necessary for character and notation, and it is better to use real materials such as internet advertisements, bulletin boards and banners.
