This paper investigates the empty category subject pro, and if necessary, PRO included in the discussion. To accomplish this, example sentences related to pro were extracted from a novel, and the AI's ability to recognize, process, and translate them was evaluated. When the AI translation outcomes are compared with the author’s translation, they revealed numerous errors across syntactic-semantic fields. Furthermore, by comparing translations with a time difference between 2020 and 2022, the development trend and speed of AI translation were gauged. Although both Korean and Spanish have pro, their usage, syntax, and scope of use differ. However, AI cannot recognize these distinctions, creating errors in translation. Specifically, anaphoric interpretation of pro is handled to some extent, but cataphoric interpretation is not. Furthermore, in dialogue, mistranslations occur because AI translators fail to grasp the referential relationship between speakers and listeners. In Spanish, the subject complement or predicate in a non-argument Small Clause must agree in gender and number with the subject, whether it is an empty category or a pronoun, but in Korean, no such agreement exists. As a result, AI translators have difficulty processing these small clause structure translations.
