Chinese ancient folk belief is a kind of the activity for religious belief that worshiped and believed by people and often prevented from imperial government. It has no systematic theory and it widely respects gods and ghosts, demons and monsters, celestial worthy, true man, Buddhist, Patriarch and Buddha, and it clutters up with Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and traditional ghosts and gods superstitions belief, but it is not them. So facing the reality to solve the concrete problems is his significant features. Just this belief, it becomes people's belief and collective consciousness of various classes in the ancient social, and it reflects people's values and pursue.
The concepts of fiction in the Chinese history should be stated that it's the made-up narrative prose works which each one created consciously, and which it has regular length and be read. Chinese ancient fiction can be divided into five stages: the prehistory stage, the sprout stage, the initial stage, the finalizing stage, the design stage and the flourishing stage.
The religion belief and the literature art have the same connections and reflection pattern. It's not strange that the Chinese ancient folk belief exerts the influence on the classical fiction. And it shows two sides. One is folk belief becomes the important material for ancient fiction. So in fact emerging of this will bring some changes in the content and at least make people's attentions change as well. Along with the improvement on the change of idea and the creative ability of art, no matter the readers and the writers is not satisfied with copying mechanically the folk belief into the fiction and to pay attention to the creation of beauty further. Of course emerging of this material makes vigorous attempts to the contents of creation of fiction. This is the influence of the folk belief on the classical fiction. And it impels the writers to cast their eyes on the lower levels and the misfortune, and they become the lead in the fiction. The other is the features of folk belief have permeated the creation of the classical fiction. It affects the way of dealing with the non-real material in the process of creating the fiction. That means using the power of super-reality to resolve the concept problems and contradiction which lies ahead of the lead in the fiction and improves the lead's life circumstances or achieves the some realistic goal. The great influence of folk belief on the classical fiction gives prominence to express that it advances the gradual progress of Chinese ancient fiction. In the sprout stage, the content of folk belief in the form of original habits gets into the creation of scholars on the whole. For example sou shen ji write by Gan Bo in Jin Dynasty declared that" can create the version of the version of the gods and that is not nonsense." But its contents recorded the celestial beings, the magicians, the gods who offer sacrifices to, the demons, the monsters, the ghosts and many aspects about folk belief. The humanization of gods and ghosts in the interior of folk belief combines the great event which seeking the essays in Dang Dynasty. By means of the aesthetic of the targets of difference and gets into a kind of the conscious times of "be inclined fiction", so that is the times of legend creation in Tang Dynasty. The worships of targets in human sympathy, in human mature or in emotion have the positive effect on the consciousness of the creation of Tang fiction in the folk belief. Afterwards it has a great effect on the folk belief in many ways about the subject, the structure and the characterization in the creation of hua ben in Song and Yuan times and zhang hui novel in Ming and Qing times.
