This paper emphasized the importance of collocation-based vocabulary learning to improve learners" overall English proficiency. A number of researchers have pointed out that English language is composed of numerous lexical phrases or chunks and that collocation operates as an important learning factor in the process of learning. Without the knowledge of collocation, learners will probably produce awkward combinations of words and have difficulty communicating properly. That is, all fluent and appropriate language use requires collocational knowledge. Being exposed to collocation, learners will facilitate their language learning and be able to think more quickly and communicate more efficiently. With the development of computer technology, vast electronic archives of written and spoken texts were accumulated, namely, corpora, and those data are easily accessible through various corpus programs. The careful analysis of corpora will give learners and teachers insights into how language is really used and how it is commonly and typically used in real life. Therefore, corpus can be an effective input in the process of teaching-learning as learners observe various authentic examples used in written and spoken texts and these inputs will encourage English learners to be more active participants in learning English.
