In the social network service (SNS) environment of China, the sharing of information is predominantly image-centric, with the proliferation of SNS platforms focused on photo and video sharing substantiating this trend. Selfies have become a standard way for individuals to introduce themselves on SNS platforms, serving as tools that allow users to express themselves through images visible to others. To better portray themselves, the frequency of camera application use among China’s youth continues to rise. This study aims to examine the influences of Unified Technology Acceptance Factors and AR Technology Characteristics, such as interactivity, presence, aesthetic value, on consumer satisfaction and continued usage intentions of AR camera applications. Additionally, the study aims to analyze the mediating effect that appearance satisfaction, obtained from the use of Chinese AR camera applications, has on service satisfaction and the intention for continued use of the application. Main findings are as follows: Firstly, among the integrated technology acceptance factors that influence the use of AR camera applications by consumers, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and facilitating conditions were found to have a significant impact on service satisfaction. A deviation from prior studies was observed in that social influence did not significantly affect service satisfaction. Secondly, technological characteristic factors, presence, and aesthetic value were revealed to significantly influence service satisfaction. Conversely, interactivity was found not to affect service satisfaction. Thirdly, the direct influence of satisfaction on the continuous usage intention of AR-based camera applications among Chinese users was .410, while the indirect influence on continuous usage intention through appearance satisfaction was .194. Through these findings, this study endeavors to provide a deeper understanding of consumer behavior concerning AR camera applications and proposes strategies to enhance user satisfaction and continuous usage intention.
